One koala. Seven costume changes.
The Brief
Client: IvyKids – children’s pharmacy range
Scope: Character illustration, packaging design across a seven-product range
The challenge: Seven products, from cough relief to DHA drops, fighting for space on a crowded pharmacy shelf. Parents grabbing them are usually in a hurry, and often have a sick kid on their hip. Every pack had to be found fast and read clearly, and the range still had to hold together as one brand.
The Work
The Character
We built the range around a single koala. He’s the constant: same character, same personality, same spot on every pack. Kids recognise him and parents trust him. Once you’ve bought one IvyKids product, you know where to find the next.
The Props
The koala doesn’t change. His kit does.
Chesty Cough gets a beehive and bees, a nod to the manuka honey inside. Runny Noses gets a box of tissues and an umbrella. On Pain & Fever he wears a scarf and holds a thermometer, with a hot water bottle on his head. Immunity Support gives him a shield, helmet and sword. DHA Drops has him with a book and a mortarboard. Lysine has him in a cape and superhero undies. For the Saline Nasal Spray, he’s on a surfboard.
Each prop tells you what the product does before you’ve read a word.
Brand Consistency
The layout, typography and logo position are locked across all seven packs. The props carry the difference and the system carries the brand. Add an eighth product and it slots straight in.
The Results
Seven packs that read as one brand from across the aisle, and as seven different products up close.
